Private practice after law school . . .

After graduating from Tulane University for both his undergraduate and his Juris Doctorate degrees, Mr. Musser went to work for Montgomery, Barnett, Brown, and Read as an associate, focusing on insurance defense of automobile claims, labor relations, real estate law, corporate law, and successions.

Experience in criminal trial work as Assistant United States Attorney . . .

Mr. Musser later joined the U.S. Department of Justice as an assistant U.S. attorney (AUSA) for the Eastern District of Louisiana. He gained extensive knowledge of all areas of criminal litigation, environmental litigation, and medical malpractice. As an AUSA, he served as the Coordinator of Housing Fraud Task Force.

Trial attorney in maritime law and insurance defense . . .

Mr. Musser later focused on maritime law with the Law Offices of Francis Emmett and then took the position of managing trial attorney for CNA Insurance Company. For five years, Mr. Musser focused his attention as the primary trial attorney for cases throughout southeast Louisiana and as manager of the staff counsel office in New Orleans for CNA Insurance Company. The staff counsel office was responsible for the insurance defense for automobile accidents, product liability, maritime activity, and general liability.

Rejoined private practice in state and federal courts of Louisiana and Mississippi . . .

In 1983, Mr. Musser joined on as a partner at Longnecker and Musser. Then in 1985, he opened the Law Offices of John H. Musser, IV, where he is the sole Practitioner and a mediator. Mr. Musser focuses on all forms of trial work, especially civil trials in maritime, long-shore, worker’s compensation, automobile and business-related cases in both Louisiana and Mississippi. John Musser appears in both state and federal courts.

John Musser has handled all forms of trial work, including maritime, long-shore, worker’s compensation, automobile, slip and fall, as well as business-related trial work. He has also handled civil rights defense and public official’s liability defense.

Class action litigation experience . . .

John Musser has served as a special master, as well as a member of plaintiffs’ legal committees, in class action litigation.

Trained mediator for over 10 years . . .

He is a mediator, trained at Attorney-Mediators Institute in Dallas, Texas. He has been affiliated for 10 years with Martin Mediation Group in New Orleans, which merged with Alternative Dispute Resolution in 2005.
